Law Offices of James Blatt Secures Not Guilty Verdicts for Client in Alhambra Attempted Murder Case

Fresh off latest success in high-stakes criminal matter, firm prepares to begin defense of Jesse James Hollywood in highly anticipated Santa Barbara trial

Encino, Calif. (Lexis Nexis) April 24, 2009 -- Attorneys from the Law Offices of James Blatt, a prominent Los Angeles-based criminal defense law firm, secured acquittals for their client, Sam Lock Siu, in a two-count attempted murder case stemming from a 2007 incident in Alhambra.

The case, People of the State of California v. Sam Lock Siu (County of Los Angeles Case No. GA068743), was tried in the Superior Court for the State of California, Alhambra Branch. It originated as a five-count felony complaint, in which the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office alleged that Siu "attempted willful, deliberate and premeditated murder" during an incident that occurred at his residence in January 2007. If convicted, Siu faced a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment.

The jury found the defendant not guilty of all counts of attempted murder and assault, but was convicted of a lesser included offense - negligent discharge of a firearm. Siu faces a three-year maximum sentence and is eligible for probation when he faces sentencing on May 5.

"We're very pleased with the jury's verdict in this case and are delighted that Mr. Siu will soon return to a normal life, without the fear of life sentence hanging over him," said James Blatt, the lead defense attorney in the case.

Fresh off this successful defense of a client, Blatt's firm now prepares to begin work in the highly publicized trial of Jesse James Hollywood. Hollywood is accused of ordering the kidnapping of a San Fernando Valley teenager in August 2000, who was subsequently murdered in Santa Barbara County. The case is scheduled to go to trial April 27th before Santa Barbara County Superior Court Judge Brian Hill in Department 14. Hollywood will be defended by Blatt, his partner Michael Raab, and their colleague Alex Kessel, who is co-counsel on the case.

With more than 70 years of combined criminal law experience, the team of attorneys at the Law Offices of James Blatt have dedicated themselves to providing the best criminal defense available to those under investigation or prosecution for state and federal offenses, including serious criminal charges such as drug trafficking, kidnapping, battery and homicide.
