San Francisco, CA (Lexis Nexis) April 24, 2008 -- LawLink, a professional and social networking Web site exclusively for licensed attorneys, has recently added a document-sharing feature that allows attorneys to upload and share legal documents with other attorneys. Attorneys can share documents with all LawLink members, with a select group of attorneys or limit access to their own private use.
Attorneys can upload most any type of document, including Word, Word Perfect, PDF, Excel, PowerPoint, JPEG and GIF. Posted documents range from legal forms, pleadings, favorable opinions, verdicts, articles, press releases, deposition transcripts to any other legal document.
When asked what the impetus was for the document-sharing feature, LawLink founder and attorney, Steven Choi said: "Attorneys use more paper in a month than other professionals use in a year. Attorneys using an online social network to share legal documents is a no-brainer and yet it was non-existent until now."
"As an attorney involved in multi-party litigation, I am used to faxing or mailing hundreds of documents to as many as 10 different attorneys," said Steven Choi. "Now, all I do is create a Law Group, upload my documents and members of the group can view and download the documents wherever they have Internet access."
There is no better way for an attorney to market their legal expertise than to upload and share their documents for the entire legal community to view. "One member uploaded her closing arguments and cross-examinations from a trial she won to demonstrate her trial skills," said Steven Choi.
Attorneys can choose to limit access to their documents to a select group of attorneys using a new feature called Law Groups. Law Groups can be created around a particular case, a practice area, a law firm, an alumni association or any other basis.
Attorneys can also upload and store documents for their own private use. LawLink offers unlimited storage and easy organization of the documents.
"We expect this new document-sharing feature will save our members hundreds of hours and allow them to build a Web-based library of their most important documents."
Since its launch in September 2007, LawLink has grown to more than three thousand members-all attorneys. Members can use the site to network, share information with other attorneys, post and review job listings, and discuss legal topics in the site's "forum" section. LawLink invites attorneys to post a free member profile on the site. Members represent all demographic groups and are located throughout the United States. LawLink has been featured by the American Bar Association, California Lawyer, Law.com, CNN Money, and many others. The site can found at www.lawlink.com. Membership is free for licensed attorneys.
