Redsave.com Announces Digital Photo Frame as the Hottest Gadget for Christmas 2007

The secret bestseller for the holiday season 2007 won't be the Playstation 3, the Nintendo Wii or the highly anticipated Apple iPhone but the rather inconspicuous Digital Photo Frame that displays pictures from digital cameras.

Poole, UK (Martindale-Hubbell® Newswire / PRWEB) November 7, 2007 - According to Redsave.com, a UK based e-commerce store that specializes in gadgets and gifts, the must-have gadget for Christmas 2007 will be the Digital Photo Frame.

Digital Photo Frames can display single photos or even hundreds of pictures as a slideshow with adjustable intervals and transition effects. Digital Picture Frames come in an assortment of sizes and styles and some of the user-friendly devices can also play video files and music and may even include extravagant features like Wi-Fi or picture mail.

Though mainly used for displaying family pictures and holiday snapshots, Digital Photo Frames are also used for business presentations and marketing purposes.

Most popular of the lot is the medium-sized 7" Digital Photo Frame which features a postcard-sized display and easily fits on office desktops and living room mantelpieces.
As Christmas approaches, chains like John Lewis, Boots, Argos, Asda and Tesco are stocking up on Digital Picture Frames and are about to heavily promote the phenomenal gadget above heavily hyped items that are in short supply. It seems the high street retailers are focusing on functional gadgets rather than big names this year.

The huge demand in digital photo frames has already seen the cost price from the manufacturers jump 30% in two months as they struggle to keep up with demand from around the world.

High visibility, availability, attractive pricing and desirability all make the Digital Photo Frame a likely top performer on this season's gadgets best sellers chart.

"Anyone who takes their photos with a digital camera, also wants to display them digitally," says Joe Merrick of Redsave.com, whose number one bestseller is an inexpensive Seven Inch Digital Photo Frame with an included 512 MB SD Card that offers enough space for more than 500 pictures for only £39.99.

"Since almost anyone in the UK owns at least one digital camera or a mobile phone with integrated digital camera, the sales potential for affordably priced Digital Picture Frames is truly enormous."

About Redsave.com: Redsave.com is a price-led shopping website specialising in essential gadgets and unique gifts for him and her.

Why 7” inch Digital Photo Frame are really cheap? from sun group on Nov 9, 2007   Preview Open
Think Twice Before You Decide to buy 7" digital photo frame. http://www.sgmonitor.com/information.php?info_id=22 These 7” digital frames are really cheap. They are even cheaper than 5.6 inch frames. There should be a reason why they are cheaper. They have a low resolution 480x234 pixels. One of the few reasons are, the aspect ratio of these picture frames is 16:9. Which means all your images that you load in them will look elongated or squashed. However you can make it fit the frame by cropping using a computer and software. Plainly it is not as simple as inserting your memory card and getting a wonderful picture as you would get from a 5.6, 8 or 10inch screens. The other reason is the viewing angle of the 7 inch frames is very narrow. To illustrate the importance of viewing angle, consider that you are placing a photo frame on your mantelpiece. If you are setting naturally on your sofa, your line of sight to the frame will be at an angle. Unless the frame supports wide viewing angle, your picture will appear blurred in most cases you will not be able to see much. So if you are going for a cheap frame, think about its usage, are you going to place it on your desk and view it from a close distance or will it be a decorative piece for a visitor to appreciate. Electronic Photo Frames like the 7 inch with narrow viewing angle produce acceptable quality of the picture when viewed from less than 1m from the frame, almost a distance that you need to hold them in hand. Many of the cheap 7 inch photo frames do not support audio or video playback. The support for different memory cards is also limited in case of cheaper frames. To appreciate quality difference you need to see the same picture in a 7 inch frame and then view it in a 8 inch frame. The 8 inch frame or the frame with higher resolution Digital signal and 4:3 aspect ratio panel will always be much better than a 7 inch digital photo frame with low resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio.
